As a surgical subspecialty of ophthalmology, oculoplastic surgery (also known as ophthalmic plastic surgery) includes the medical and surgical treatment of various abnormalities such as cysts and tumors on the eyelids, ptosis (droopy eyelids), water eyes, dry eyes, thyroid eye disease, orbital conditions and artificial eyes.
Oculoplastics also includes treatment of aesthetic conditions of the eyelids including Botulinum toxin injections, dermal fillers and blepharoplasty to give a more youthful appearance
