MR DANIELE LORENZANO

Mr Daniele Lorenzano is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, where he is the Research Lead for the Oculoplastics and Orbital Service at their Eye Unit.

Mr Lorenzano treats both adults and children, specialising in all aspects of surgical & non-surgical cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery.

He treats lacrimal and orbital diseases, including cancers and thyroid eye disease. He has a special interest in Botox neuro-toxin treatment, not only for aesthetic reasons but also for medical conditions such as eyelid spasms, face twitching and facial paralysis.

He graduated from the University of Rome with degrees in Medicine and Surgery. He then completed his training at the prestigious Ophthalmology Residency Programme at the University of Rome, Tor Vergata, for which he was awarded the CCT cum laude in Ophthalmology. He subsequently developed his sub-specialist interest in orbital, lacrimal, eyelid reconstructive and aesthetic surgery with advanced training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, Bristol Eye Hospital, and as visiting fellow at the Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne.  

In Milan, Mr Lorenzano started the first oculoplastic and orbital service at the Eye Hospital and worked for several years at the National Cancer Institute. He has also worked in Africa with local healthcare teams, treating patients with trachoma (which leads to blindness) and other eye diseases as part of the World Health Organization Africa project. 

Mr Lorenzano has an active interest in research, having worked as an investigator in several research trials. He is a keen educator, training surgeons and junior doctors on safe eyelid and orbital surgery.
